30"x40" Oil on Canvas

"Hey!  I really like this. Nice! What really sets your work apart is the personality and "anima" of the
animals. They seem alive with personality. Familiar with the Meissen
porcelain works of the 18th and 19th centuries, you can tell they are
Meissen from across the room because they seem so alive."

"Anima means that it is instilled with the spirit of living."

("I think it is worthy of a glicee print, just not too large. but it must be signed....."
"I am ordering two, and have them signed by you.")

"I will tell you briefly about Meissen. In Dresden there was August the
Strong, the king. He was a big fan of Chinese hard paste porcelain. He put
this guy in prison and told him he wasn't getting out until he figured out
how to turn lead into gold or the secret of chinese hard paste porcelain.
One was easier to figure out than the other.

So Meissen porcelain was founded, a town just up the Elbe river. They
preceded Delft and the English porcelain by 75-100 years. There was this one
guy, Joachim somebody who did lots of large animals and birds. Large like
3-5 feet tall, very difficult to do with porcelain. You can spot them a mile
away because they seem so alive, infused with anima.

This painting is like that."
